Citrullus lanatus
A.k.a. Monte Cristo. Bred by WA Kleckley in the 1880s and commercially introduced by W Atlee Burpee in 1897. This delicious watermelon has an oblong shape, with a thin, dark green skin containing juicy, sweet, bright red flesh and white seeds. Due to the skin being thin, this variety does not transport well.
