Citrullus lunatus

An old Amish variety that was almost lost to home gardeners. This is one of the exciting varieties that renewed the interest in heirloom watermelons. It is named after its unique pattern on the skin resembling a moon and stars. This also extends to the leaves, giving some gardeners a fright thinking that they have a diseased plant.
