Balcony Beauty is a cheerful, compact cherry tomato that brings both charm and productivity to your patio or garden bed. This determinate Livingseeds release was developed with container gardeners in mind, delivering vigorous plants that remain tidy and petite. Its sunny yellow fruit clusters stand out beautifully, and the plants perform well even under the pressure of heat and humidity.

In the kitchen, Balcony Beauty tomatoes provide a burst of sweet, low-acid flavour that brightens up salads, snack plates and kids’ lunchboxes. Their thin skins and juicy texture make them a fresh-eating favourite, while their golden hue adds a delightful visual pop when roasted or skewered on the braai.

Sow seeds in seedling trays indoors six to eight weeks before your last expected frost date. Use a warm, well-draining Germination Mix and use a Germination Heating Pad to provide bottom heat of 24 to 27°C for faster, more even germination. Tomato seeds should be lightly covered with no more than 5mm of soil and kept consistently moist. Germination typically occurs within seven to ten days under optimal conditions.

Once seedlings are established and all risk of frost has passed, transplant into rich, composted soil in full sun. These bushy little plants grow to around 50 to 60cm tall and require minimal staking. Expect your first ripe fruits approximately 55 to 60 days from transplant. Harvest when the fruit reaches a rich, clear yellow and releases easily from the vine. Regular picking encourages continued production throughout the season.
