Golden Bantam 12-Row sweet corn is a refined heirloom developed from the original 1902 Burpee release, with the improved 12-row version introduced by Clark Seed Company in 1922. It quickly became a staple in home gardens thanks to its plump, well-filled ears and that unmistakable old-style corn flavour. The deep yellow kernels are arranged neatly on 18–20 cm cobs and deliver a satisfying bite straight from the garden.

Golden Bantam 12-Row is best picked at peak milk stage for boiling, grilling or freezing. Its flavour is rich, traditional and balanced without the excessive sweetness found in many modern hybrids. This is the corn for those who value depth of flavour and a true heirloom eating experience.

Direct sow seed after the last frost once soil temperatures are above 12°C. Plant 2–3 cm deep and space 20–25 cm apart in rows 50 cm apart. Always sow in blocks of at least four rows to ensure good pollination. Plants mature in around 85 days and should be harvested when the silks have dried and the kernels release milky sap when pressed.

Livingseeds recommends planting a minimum of 40 plants for general growing. For seed saving, a population of 80–100 plants is strongly advised to maintain genetic diversity and avoid suppression.
