Secale cereale

This hardy winter grain, also known as Winter Rye or Cereal Rye is a vigorous grower. Plant in autumn for a mid summer harvest of grain. Can also be planted as a green manure or as a livestock feed.

Rye is mostly grown for its edible and nutritious grain that is ground down into a flour for breads and also used to make whiskey and vodka.

The grass is sometimes used in the manufacturing of thatch roofs, hats, mattresses and even paper.

Ready to harvest around 110 days.
