Tasting Notes:

Very mild, "tastes like mild garlic".

Sharp with immediate fade with minimal linger.

Giant garlic is not actually a garlic, it is a member of the Leek family that looks, tastes and behaves like a garlic. A mild flavoured garlic much favoured as it's easy to peel and produces impressively large cloves. Elephant garlic often produces flower spikes that should be removed as the production of flowers draw energy away from making big tasty cloves. This is the latest planting garlic and should be planted after the middle of March upto the middle of April.

If you live in a winter rainfall area, we strongly recommend that you use Biogrow Copper Soap on your garlic plants. Spray preventatively for rust every 2-3 weeks with a mixture of 50% of the minimum dose and water.

Amazing! Grow it every year. Actually thrives in our hot subtropical weather where others suffer. Massive bulbs freeze beautifully to use all year long. The ''spring garlic'' is a tasty substitute for onions as well.

I purchased these after the garlic tasting... this helped me choose varieties. They sprouted so well, they are still in the soil though, we were advised to plant them back in Feb.

I live in Stellenbosch on a farm and tried practically every garlic varietal on the list last year. We have a terrible rust problem and the Elephant garlic was the only one that proved resistant and thrived and produced a fantastic crop. I got enormous heads of beautiful pungent garlic and this year I will not bother with the others as this was so successful. Thanks for everything LS x

I have purchased for the last 2 years these beauts of a garlic. They are absolutely the best for taste. Make precious cooking oils. A single wiff of the aroma. Easy to grow.
