Capsicum annuum

If you have been to Spain or are of Spanish decent, you will know this pepper. Most often sold as tapas in sidewalk cafes. Eating these can be a lot of fun. While most of these peppers are sweet and mild, it's the occasional kicker that makes you sit up and gulp at your wine.

The beauty of these guys is in the gamble! Great flavour which i enjoy more cooked than raw and a pretty easy grower. Just for reference my plants have reached a good 4 ft high.

Love, love, love this chilli. It's definitely HOT. I dry, pan fry and then grind the fruits up for a fragrant and yum chilli powder. I fill them, red, with cheese and bake for 'poppers' (and do they pop!). Haven't tried them green (as poppers). And the plants last two seasons (in my experience the second season even better than the first).

These were definitely top of our faves for 2012! Ours were certainly NOT sweet peppers! I think we had one mild one and imagine our surprise when we threw the sweet pepper in a green salad and ended up bursting into flames! Absolutely great burn though and very very productive. Dries wonderfully and have combined with aji amarillo and ground up (dried) in a coffee grinder for an oft used spice! Love it
