Arachis hypogaea

Chalimbana, one of Africa's best known varieties, originates from Malawi and can often be found for sale at local farmer's markets in Malawi. This peanut is very meaty with a strong peanut flavour and is a high yielding variety making it very popular for market gardeners.

Ready for harvest in 110-130 days.

Standard packet contains approx. 25 seeds

Nice medium-to-large sized peanut that is fond of producing triple pods (3 nuts per pod)... And mostly nice uniform-sized peanuts, but we harvested them 150 days after planting, as most of the peanuts were not properly developed after 120 days (not sure if that was due to risky late-planting - i.e. on the 3rd of January - and so the plant having to grow through cooler autumn months, which might have slowed down nut-development), but as with the Mtedza Blantyre and Mulanje varieties which we planted together, they are all super-tasty raw or pan/pot-baked (with nothing added whatsoever), I am now hooked to peanut planting and will be a gardening staple from now on.
