Bred by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms, USA. This variety is a prolific producer of beautiful red-brown saladette-type fruits with a sweet, rich flavour. An excellent slicing variety. The indeterminate plants do show some disease resistance and the fruits are resistant to cracking.

Ready for harvest in 90 days from transplant.

With all the flavour of heirloom tomatoes, Chocolate Chestnut seems to have an exceptional shelf life! I had them in a basket on my dining room table in midsummer (no air-conditioning), and they held for over a week without spoiling or getting too soft. They have a firm skin which adds to the shelf life, but it's not unpleasant in salad or when cooked down in sauce.
