Hydrogen Peroxide has been used as a seed treatment for many years to great effect.

The benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide are multi-faceted with enhanced germination being one of the main reasons for using H2O2.
Most typically peroxide is used to germinate difficult seed like Super Hot Chillis and other seeds that require bottom heat to germinate.
We have also found that older seeds that are typically considered "dead" have been able to gain some acceptable germination to ensure that the varieties are not lost.

One of the greatest benefits of H2O2 besides enhanced germination is the ability of peroxide to destroy any surface borne pathogens on the seed. This is particularly import when you have seed from an unknown source and are unsure if there are any diseases present on the seed. NOTE: This will not prevent seed borne viruses from being transmitted.

It must be noted that not every seed type will benefit from using H2O2 however we do not know of any detrimental effect of using H2O2 on seed at the correct dilution.

The Livingseeds Hydrogen Peroxide is sold at a 3% solution.

The peroxide will need to be diluted to 1% for use on seed.

The easiest way to do this is to pour the peroxide into a Bettix Bottle and then fill the peroxide bottle with bottled water twice, adding each bottle to the Bettix Bottle. This will take the 3% solution down to 1%.

NOTES:

Peroxide is light sensitive, only mix the solution when you need it.

Store the mixed solution in a dark cupboard.

Chlorine in tap water will reduce the effectiveness of H2O2, which is why we recommend bottled water.

Replace your mixed 1% H2O2 every month for best results.
