Holy Green Basil, also known as tulsi, is a deeply revered herb native to tropical Asia and widely grown for its culinary and medicinal importance. This variety of holy basil features bright green, softly hairy leaves and delicate purple to white flower spikes. Traditionally cultivated around homes and temples, Holy Green Basil is highly valued in Ayurvedic and folk practices for its uplifting aroma and health-supportive properties.

Its flavour is bold and slightly spicy, combining notes of clove, mint, and anise. The leaves are commonly used in herbal infusions, healing teas, and in cooked dishes where their unique aroma can be appreciated. Holy basil is often consumed to reduce stress, improve respiratory health, and support overall vitality.

Sow seeds onto moist, well-drained seedling mix and press gently onto the surface without covering. Basil requires light to germinate and thrives in warmth. Maintain temperatures between 21 and 29°C and keep consistently moist. Germination typically takes 6 to 10 days.

Holy Green Basil grows to 60 to 90 cm in height and thrives in full sun and fertile, lightly moist soil. It is well suited to containers and should be harvested frequently to encourage branching. The plant will flower continuously if not trimmed, but for best leaf production, remove flower spikes as they form.
