Sungold Select is an open-pollinated cherry tomato bred to capture the unforgettable flavour of the famed Sungold F1 hybrid. Originally selected from hybrid lines, this variety stabilises many of the qualities that made Sungold a standout performer but in an open-opllinated version. It produces vigorous, indeterminate vines that are prolific and reliable, making it a rewarding choice for home gardeners and market growers alike.

The fruit is small and round, ripening to a brilliant golden-orange hue. Each tomato weighs about 20 grams and bursts with a tropical, tangy-sweet flavour that balances bright acidity with deep fruitiness. Ideal for snacking straight from the vine, Sungold Select also shines in salads, pasta dishes, and lunchboxes. Its thin skin and juicy interior make every bite a pleasure, with just enough tartness to keep things interesting.

Begin seed indoors six to eight weeks before your last frost date. Sow seeds 5 millimetres deep in a well-drained seedling mix, maintaining a temperature of 22 to 28 degrees Celsius for germination, which typically occurs in 7 to 14 days. Once seedlings are established, provide ample light to promote strong, stocky growth.

Transplant into full sun once night temperatures consistently remain above 15 degrees Celsius. Space plants at least 60 centimetres apart in compost-rich soil with good drainage. As a tall indeterminate grower, Sungold Select benefits from staking or trellising to support its long fruiting trusses. Expect your first harvest approximately 70 days after transplanting and continued fruiting throughout the summer.
