Lagenaria siceraria

This is an OP refined strain of the original Birdhouse gourd variety. The skin is smooth and the neck does not have a "head" as the birdhouse gourd does. For longer, straighter necks, trellising is recommended.

The young fruits can be eaten in soups or stir fries. The seeds can be ground to make a fine porridge. The mature fruit has a lovely smooth, tan coloured, hard skin which makes a lovely bird feeder or birdhouse. Can also be fashioned into bowls and scoops.

Ready to harvest in 110 days.
