Pink Fang is an extraordinary paste tomato that brings both flair and flavour to the garden. First introduced by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and possibly of Mexican origin, this indeterminate variety is prized for its long, slender fruit with sharply pointed ends that resemble a fang. Its deep pink skin and elegant shape make it a standout in the tomato patch, while its exceptional productivity makes it a favourite among sauce-makers and market growers.

Each fruit measures up to 15 centimetres long, with meaty, thick walls, very few seeds, and minimal juice. This makes Pink Fang an ideal tomato for cooking into rich sauces, reducing into paste, or slicing fresh for a sweet, low-acid bite. Its flavour is notably richer and sweeter than most standard paste types, offering a full-bodied profile that elevates anything from marinara to sandwiches.

Sow seeds indoors six to eight weeks before your last frost date. Plant them 5 millimetres deep in warm, moist seedling mix, keeping soil temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius. Germination usually occurs within 7 to 14 days. Once seedlings emerge, provide strong light to encourage compact, vigorous growth.

Transplant outdoors once the weather is settled and frost danger has passed. Choose a sunny location with rich, composted soil and space plants at least 60 centimetres apart. Pink Fang is a tall, indeterminate vine and requires staking or trellising. Fruit ripens in 75 to 85 days from transplant and continues well into late summer.
