Livingseeds Hatchery is South Africa’s leading breeder and hatchery for heritage poultry. Even though we have kept chickens for longer than we have been selling vegetable seed, the hatchery portion of Livingseeds was only established in 2022 as part of the Livingseeds brand.
Livingseeds Hatchery offers more than 30 rare, hybrid, bantam and large fowl breeds with a specific focus on high egg production, a diverse genetic base in all of our breeds, egg colour and either auto or sex-linked birds.
Livingseeds also developed South Africa's first sex-linked Easter Egger, called the Livingseeds CinnaMint. This is an incredibly popular breed where we can guarantee the sex of a day-old Easter Egger.
The hatchery’s mission is to provide healthy, high quality day old chicks all the way through to point of lay birds up to 18 weeks for backyard poultry keepers.
Situated on a regenerative farm in Midvaal, Livingseeds Hatchery focuses on ethical breeding practices and supplying birds known for their utility, unique colors and engaging personalities.
