Luffa aegyptiaca

The Lenyenye Loofah is a real South African treasure. One of the rarest of loofahs in that it has white seed. Typically, white seeds in a loofah is an indication of unfertilised or “empty” seed.

This variety hails from Lenyenye township near Tzaneen, Limpopo. The green fruits have a unique series of white marks along each segment, giving a very pretty effect. We are super excited about this variety as it’s a short, stubby loofah with a lovely, tight knit.

As loofah is a long-season crop and frost-sensitive, make sure you leave room in the season for it to mature and turn brown fully on the vine for the best quality loofah sponges.

Standard packet contains approx. 15 seeds
