CinnaMints are a unique, sex-linked hybrid developed exclusively by Livingseeds Hatchery. Just as Champagne comes only from the Champagne region, CinnaMints are only available from Livingseeds Hatchery. Every chick provided is female, and should a male slip through, the hatchery will replace it.
Egg Production
CinnaMint hens begin laying at around six months of age. They produce approximately 250 medium to large eggs each year, with shell colours ranging from turquoise to khaki green. The exact egg colour cannot be predicted, much like with Easter Eggers, but all will be within the green spectrum. Hens may go broody occasionally, though it is not a consistent trait.
Appearance
CinnaMints share similarities with Easter Eggers in having beards and muffs, but they are slightly larger in size. Their feathering is typically cinnamon or bay-coloured, with a soft dove-grey neck ring and either cream or grey on the undercarriage. Legs are usually a horn-pink shade. Although feather patterns vary slightly from bird to bird, most will display a golden to reddish hue combined with full facial feathering.
Temperament and Behaviour
These hens are calm and friendly. They respond well to training and can learn to come when called. In trials, they quickly associated the hatchery staff’s whistle with food and would come running. Their temperament makes them a good choice for families with children, and they integrate well into mixed flocks without showing dominance or aggression.
Suitability and Care
CinnaMints are well suited to both backyard and small-scale farming setups. Their consistent green egg laying, attractive feathering, and gentle nature make them an excellent choice for those looking to add character and productivity to their flock. As a sex-linked hybrid, they eliminate the need to sort or rehome roosters, which adds to their convenience for beginner poultry keepers.
