Hobson Rape is an improved version of Giant Essex Rape. A high yielding, fast growing crop that has light green, highly palatable leaves. The plant copes well with regular harvesting, bouncing back readily. That said, Rape is a heavy feeder and requires regular feeding and top dressing with well matured manure or compost to ensure a longer production period.  The leaves are delicious boiled or steamed and contain plenty of good fiber, are rich in vitamin A, Thiamine, ascorbic acid, Omega 3 and 6. The Rapeseed oil can be used in baking, in soap making and for illumination. Traditionally rape is also used as a fodder crop for sheep and cattle.
