Trichosanthes cucumerina
A popular Asian vegetable that is typically eaten immature and tastes somewhere between a cucumber and okra, with a similar mouthfeel to okra. Can have a bit of bitterness raw, but this is cooked away. Mature fruits have a red flesh that is sometimes substituted for tomatoes especially in certain African cuisines.
The plant has a climbing habit, and can easily be trellised. Is frost sensitive.
