Solanum lycopersicum
Iditarod Red is the perfect choice for gardeners looking for a compact, early variety that produces tasty saladette-sized tomatoes. Developed by Patrina Nuske Small in 2006, it was later selected and named by Sue Bailey after the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
Expect round, smooth, scarlet-red fruits that weigh 50-100g, with a juicy, well-balanced tomato flavour that makes them perfect for salads and grilling.
As a dwarf variety, the plant reaches only 90cm tall and does well in containers or gardens with limited space and shorter growing seasons. With its bush growth habit, you won't need to prune the suckers or stake for height, but do note that it requires support on the width as its thick stems get heavy with fruit.
Ready for harvest at around 70 days from transplant.
Standard packet contains approx. 25 seeds
Petite packet contains approx. 10 seeds
