The Plazza Bean is a modern European-style bush variety known for its exceptionally flat, wide pods and compact growth habit. This stringless bush bean has become a favourite among gardeners seeking reliable yields without the fuss of trellising. Originally developed for the fresh market, it stands out for its uniformity and visual appeal, producing bright mid-green pods that grow up to 17 cm long. With plants maturing at just under half a meter. Plazza is ideal for smaller garden spaces and reduces the risk of disease associated with sprawling growth.

In the kitchen, Plazza Beans are prized for their crisp texture and subtle sweet flavour. Their flat profile and tender skin make them a superb choice for sautéing, steaming or lightly blanching as a side. These beans also retain their form and colour well during cooking, offering both culinary versatility and aesthetic appeal. Rich in vitamins A, B, and C, they are a nourishing and tasty addition to summer meals.

Sow directly into the garden once all danger of frost has passed. Seeds should be planted 2 to 3 cm deep in well-drained soil, spaced 20 to 25 cm apart. Cultivate Plazza Beans in full sun, with rows spaced 40 to 60 cm apart. While the compact plants usually do not require support, a light staking may be beneficial when laden with pods.
