Super Snappy is a short, bush-type sugar snap pea known for producing extra-large pods filled with up to 10 sweet peas. It matures in about 65 days and requires no trellis. A strong performer in cool seasons with a crunchy, juicy bite.

Super Snappy is a compact sugar snap pea bred for home gardens where space is limited but flavour and yield are priorities. The plants grow to around 50 cm tall and produce extra-large, bright green pods that hold 8 to 10 peas each. Unlike many tall snap varieties, Super Snappy doesn’t need support, making it ideal for container gardens or tight rows.

The pods are sweet, juicy and crisp, ideal for fresh snacking, salads or light cooking. Their size also makes them a good option for steaming or quick stir-fries. The thick pod walls hold up well to light cooking but are best eaten when still bright green and before the seeds swell fully.

Sow seeds directly into prepared soil about 2.5 cm deep. Space seeds 5 cm apart and thin to 25–30 cm once seedlings emerge. Soil should be well-drained and kept evenly moist. Super Snappy prefers full sun and grows best during the cooler months of the year. It is not suitable for hot or mid-summer conditions.

Pods are ready for harvest about 65 days after sowing. Pick when they’re full and crisp but before they lose their sweetness. Regular harvesting improves ongoing production and helps maintain pod quality.

Super Snappy does not require trellising and has excellent resistance to Powdery Mildew.
